Newsletter Summer 2017

Summer seems to finally have arrived; numbers attending walks are continuing to be very healthy and our first weekend away in Whitby was thoroughly enjoyed by all those who went.

Social Events

  1. Charity Walk 9th July & BBQ

Building on last year’s BBQ & Charity Walk we will be offering a choice of two walks, a Green and Blue details of these can be found on our website. Our hosts for the BBQ will be Jan and Steve in Huxley and as they live on the lane coming down from the T junction in Huxley we will aim to travel there in as few cars as possible.

As it is our charity walk the fee will be £5 per person for the walk and we will be asking for a donation of £5 per person for the food. Please remember to bring along a bottle of your choice. If you are unable to attend the walk then please still feel free to come and join in the fun at the BBQ. If unsure of how to get to Jan and Steve’s please contact me or another committee member for directions, their address will also be temporarily placed on the website too.

In order that we can cater for those coming, please could you send me or Jan an email by Friday 7th July if you are planning to attend.

  1. Christmas Party: at Willington Hall in Friday December 8th 17.

The feedback following our Christmas party in the Orangery (a new room which overlooks the gardens and surrounding countryside) was very positive and so we will be returning there again this year.

More details will be circulated shortly but please make a note of the above date.

Walk Information

Walk Leader Meeting 1st June 2017

The meeting had excellent turnout with 13 of our 16 Walk Leaders present.

Please note the following

Old Hall (due to now having an Event’s facility) has installed a road barrier just before you enter the car park. The club has made arrangements for it to be open early on Sunday morning so that we can leave our cars there as usual. Please note however that some Red walks may finish late in the day and after the barrier is down. Hence for some walks we will be using an alternative starting venue. This will be high-lighted on the walk brief.

First Aid Training

Sue Norward has very kindly held a refresher session with our Walk Leaders.

Tattenhall First Responders

Some of our walk leaders recently attended the HeartStart Training course on Emergency Life Support offered by Tattenhall First Responders and found it to be very informative. These courses are open to everyone so if any club members are interested the course is free (although they welcome donations) and the web link is below.
