Walk Leaders

Following a walk leader’s meeting in January, the Club has up-dated it’s Risk Assessment for walks and new measures have been implemented. These have been well received with walk leaders giving positive feedback. A second follow-up meeting is to be held this autumn.

Three members of OHWC are to receive training end of May/early June and others have also expressed interest in receiving training. If you would like to attend training and become a walk leader too then please contact Steve Andrews who will be more than pleased to give you further information.

Summer Event August 2015

A ‘social’ without a proceeding walk.

Sarah is looking for ideas for the venue of the summer party in August. Last year we went to the Bluebell Cafe in Great Barrow which was excellent, but perhaps a little small. However we are having trouble finding another venue where we can use outside space if the weather is nice and provides good food at reasonable prices. Any suggestions to Sarah (

2015 New Members

It is great to know that our club is popular and attracting new members. Since the beginning of the year approximately 10 people have joined.

Other News!

James Williamson is arranging an “exra” walk for anyone who would like to join in.

Snowdon for Softies – Saturday 27th June

Have you ever wanted to walk that mountain on your doorstep but felt that maybe you would not make it? Well here is your chance to give it a go.

The route will be via the Llanberis path. It is a gradual gradient and for most of the way the path is not rough under foot. The pace will be slow to ensure we all make it.

There are cafés at the Halfway House and at the summit for that well-earned cuppa. And on our return we can pause at Pen Ceunant Isaf, a delightful café, for a welcome beer.

James is leading this walk on behalf of Old Hall gym. It is not an official Club walk.

Meeting Time is 8:00am at Old Hall. Contact James to book your place

Trekking in Patagonia – November 2016

A number of Club members are planning to go trekking in Patagonia in November 2016. If you are interested in joining them contact James for further details

Those members who have expressed an interest so far are Bob & Bridge, Miriam, James, Mark, Ian & Paula, Howard and Stephen Cruse. For four people this will be a return visit.
