Newsletter Spring 21

Hi Members

Just a short email from your Committee to let you know we’re still here, plotting and planning the year ahead, fingers and toes crossed Boris’ roadmap will work and we’ll be able to get together soon for walks and social catching up.

For those of you not at the virtual AGM in January, we have 3 new Committee members: welcome Ian our new Chairman, Jan, Walks Programme Officer and Carine, Secretary for Holidays and Weekends Away. We had an informal virtual get-together last month and are hoping to have a face-to-face (wow!) committee meeting next month, weather permitting (meeting outside, in line with projected restrictions!).

In the meantime, ahead of the Spring newsletter I’ll be sending after next month’s meeting, here’s a few items of information:

– Carine is very busy sorting out holiday bookings for this year and 2022 – you will have had her emails with all the details of the various weekends and holidays on offer. Please do contact her directly if you would like any information about any of these.

– Looking ahead to when we can finally enjoy walks together, Jan is in the throes of putting together a new walks programme. More news about this at a later date.

– the club’s website is having a makeover! James has been working on a revamp of the website, the committee will be getting a preview in the next week. More news coming soon.

– A date for your diary, if only provisional at the moment! In theory, if the easing of restrictions go to plan, we are on target for our annual Charity Walks and BBQ on Sunday 18th July. Huge thanks to Dennis and Margaret who have agreed to host the BBQ again. Of course, we will be monitoring the situation over the next months and will only hold the event if both Dennis and Margaret and club members feel it is safe to do so.

Now Spring is officially here, I hope you’re enjoying seeing everything coming alive on your local walks. Remember last year? All those lovely sunny days in Lockdown 1? Hard to believe we’re beginning a second year still in lockdown. But there are better times ahead, surely?!

On behalf of all the committee,

Hope to see you all soon
