Newsletter Autumn 17

Summer has now departed, but the Autumn colours are here for us to admire and there are still several walks for us to join before the end of the year.

Our Christmas Party is just weeks away, a time for us all to get together and catch up with everyone’s news. Details are below so hurry up and book now to come and join in the fun.

Social Events

  1. Charity Walk 9th July & BBQ

A BIG thank you to all those who helped make our summer BBQ & Charity Walk such a success. Thank you to Steve and Jan for hosting and preparing such fabulous food, thank you also to Pauline and John Law for leading the walks. We raised the grand total of £290.00 which was split equally between Cancer Research UK and The British Heart Foundation.

  1. Christmas Party: at Willington Hall in Friday December 8th 17.

Bookings are now being taken. Please see the menu and when you book please don’t forget to state what you would like to eat on the night. Please note that it is possible to order 2 or 3 courses which ever you would prefer and anyone who has specific dietary requirements just let me know.  For those who wish to dance away the night you are more than welcome to head down to the main function room to join in the fun after our meal has ended.

Walking Holidays 2017

  1. Bavaria: Lake Tegernsee 15th to 22nd July 2017

Yet again we had lovely weather. On the few days it was forecast to rain the walks were adapted and only once were we caught out with some members spending the last half an hour walking in torrential rain. But when afterwards you can sit and have a long refreshing drink or fabulously indulgent iced coffee with loads of cream it hardly seemed to matter. Moreover the rain and thunder always passed over quickly and soon the sun reappeared. The scenery and local towns and villages were delightful and the Lake provided a picture of complete serenity.

  1. Lulworth Cove: 29th September to 2nd October 201

The long journey down to the coast proved more than worthwhile and all those who went claimed the views along the coast were fabulous.  Hiring a coach for the walks on Saturday was well worth the cost as this allowed the club to venture further afield and not be tied to local circular routes.
