Walking is an enjoyable experience and a good way to stay fit.  The walking club provides a particularly friendly environment and is delighted to welcome new members.

Our Walk Programme (see Events) provides for a walk most Sundays as well as Spring and Autumn Walking Weekends and a Summer Walking Week.

Walks are graded to take into account the distance, ascent and terrain covered.

The Walk Programme and a Walk Brief, giving a brief description of the route and its features together with timings and travel arrangements, are shown on this website. The Walk Notification is emailed to all members one week prior to the walk. This information should assist you in deciding whether or not a particular walk is suitable for you.  A level of fitness and health commensurate with the demands of the walk being undertaken is required.

Safety is always an important consideration; weather conditions can change quickly in hill areas, and you are responsible for ensuring that you are properly equipped for the conditions likely to be encountered.  It is important that you have suitable clothing, boots, rucksack and carry adequate provisions. A kit list is given in the Handbook.
