From the carpark we initially follow the flank of Coed Hyrddyn (Moel Tan y Coed) aka the Velvet Hill, then past Valle Crucis Abbey. (Valle Crucis Abbey was founded in 1201 for Cistercian monks. The magnificent ruins are one of the finest mediaeval sites in north Wales). Then a lovely ramble along tracks and country lanes followed by a short ascent up to the Offa’s Dyke below Eglwyseg Crags. We follow Offa’s Dyke south and then descend via lanes and footpaths to the Llangollen canal, which we follow back to Llantisilio church where, if the snowdrops are still in flower, we will be treated to a view of the entire churchyard carpeted in white flowers. It’s then a short walk back to the carpark.
