Covid-19

Do not walk if you are feeling unwell. Carry your own hand sanitiser. In case of an emergency ensure you have with you a face mask and first aid pack.
Inevitably, the route will go through gates and over stiles that other people will have touched. It may have narrow sections that mean you will be passing close to other people.

This is a circular walk which follows the Sandstone trail path from Frodsham hill towards Alvanley and then returns via Helsby hill.
We start by walking a short distance from the hotel to the viewpoint at the war memorial on Frodsham hill. The walk then follows the Sandstone trail, skirting the golf course, with views over the Mersey Estuary to Liverpool.
We walk through woodland at Woodhouse hill and then along quiet lanes and fields until we climb up to Helsby hill, with an iron age hillfort and with extensive views on a clear day.

After lunch we descend through woodland again to the outskirts of Helsby and then along the base of Woodhouse and Frodsham hills until we climb back up to return to the hotel.
The hotel has opened ‘coffee on the hill’ at weekends so we can partake of tea/coffee and cake at the end of the walk!
This is a shorter version of the blue walk I led in the same area last summer.
