Covid-19

Do not walk if you are feeling unwell. Carry your own hand sanitiser. In case of an emergency ensure you have with you a face mask and first aid pack.
Inevitably, the route will go through gates and over stiles that other people will have touched. It may have narrow sections that mean you will be passing close to other people.

A Walk in the Shropshire Hills

The walk starts from the Easthorpe car park and after crossing the A49 we commence our ascent to Caer Caradoc, initially along a quiet country lane towards New House Farm, when we join the path through fields leading to Caer Caradoc. We leave the field and join a farm track which leads us to the base of the hill where we commence our ascent , quite steep in places on our route to Three Fingers Rock, 360 m. the path then levels out with a gentle gradient leading to Caer Caradoc, 459 m, and the old Hill Fort site with splendid views of the surrounding countryside on all sides.

After taking in the views we carry along the ridge for a while before commencing our descent, quite steep in places, leading on to Little Caradoc, 327 m. We then drop down towards Gulley Green and sweep around the base of Little Caradoc before starting our return via Hill House and Robin’s Tump on our way towards Battle Stones but taking the path around the bottom of the hill towards Gaerstones Farm  and eventually Church Stretton after skirting Helmeth Hill to rejoin the lane we followed at the commencement of our ascent.

If the weather is as kind as it was when we did our recce, there should be uninterrupted views on all sides, stretching way into the distance, so fingers crossed!
