Hi Members

It’s been a long, long time since we were able to meet socially but now that the restrictions on numbers of people meeting together outdoors are being relaxed shortly, I’m so happy to tell you that plans for our annual charity walks and Picnic are now underway. We were unable to hold this event last year; we’re hoping you’re feeling comfortable about joining us for a lovely day of walking and/or socialising this year. There’s such a lot of catching up to do!

As in 2019, two walks have been organised: Pauline and John will be leading a green and a blue walk, respectively. And Neville and Di’s garden in Tiverton will be the venue for the Picnic.

The fee for the walk is £5 and all monies will be donated equally to Cancer Research UK and the Stroke Organisation. The fee for the Picnic is also £5 – welcome nibbles and drinks will be provided.. Pack an ice box with your favourite food goodies – savoury and sweet – along with any drinks . You may want to join with others to widen your choices or you may prefer to do your own thing. It’s up to you! Some seating will be available in the garden but you may want to bring your own garden/camping/festival chairs, or even a blanket to sit on (providing the grass isn’t wet!). Please bring your own cutlery, crockery and glasses (so avoiding washing up crowds in the kitchen).

As we are no longer collecting cash for walks can you please pay your dues (either £5 or £10) online in advance to Neville: Sort code 20-20-46 a/c 30310344. If you’re not joining us on the day, you are very welcome to support the charities by sending a contribution to the same account.

With just a few weeks to go, it would be really helpful to get an idea of numbers intending to come to this event as soon as possible. I’d be very grateful if you could email me by Friday 16th July at the latest, to let me know if you are planning on coming, for either the walk or the Picnic or both and when you’ve paid the appropriate fee

We do understand if you don’t feel ready to mingle with a large group of people after all this time – everyone’s circumstances are different – but we look forward to seeing many of you on the day. Fingers crossed for good weather!

Hope to hear from you soon

Cheers

Gill
